Downloading and Installing WebStart
Downloading and Installing WebStart on Windows
Download WebStart from http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/
download-windows.html and save javaws-1_0_1_02-win-us-rt.exe on your local
machine.
To i n s tal l :
1 Double click javaws-1_0_1_02-win-us-rt.exe. The Installation Wizard appears.
2 Follow the instructions and complete the installation process.
Downloading and Installing WebStart on Solaris and Linux
The installation files for Solaris and Linux platforms are available as a .zip. Extract this file
and run
install.sh.
If you are working on Linux, download WebStart from http://java.sun.com/
products/javawebstart/download-linux.html and save javaws-1_0_1_02-linux-
int.zip on your local machine.
If you are working on Solaris, download WebStart from http://java.sun.com/
products/javawebstart/download-solaris.html and save javaws-1_0_1_02-
solsparc-int.zip
on your local machine.
To i n s tal l We b S t a r t:
1 Extract the contents of the *.zip file to your local directory.
2 At the shell prompt, run install.sh. The Installation Wizard appears.
3 Follow the instructions and complete the installation process.
Server-side Setup of WebStart
For clients to access any application deployed on your server using WebStart, you need to:
1 Modify Server configuration to support the JNLP MIME type.
2 Sign all the JAR files in the application with a trusted certificate.
3 Package your application as a WAR or EAR.
4 Deploy the application on the Server.
5 Create the JNLP file for the application.
